Cassandre's Etoile du Nord was a revolution in advertising when it first appeared in 1927. The powerful Art Deco image promotes a Pullman train, yet it depicted no landscape, no destination - and no train. Train tracks converge in the distance where they meet in the form of the North Star which was the name of the Paris-Amsterdam express train.
