The 1947 Lausanne Grand Prix poster, designed by Paul Landry, is a striking example of modernist racing art, capturing the raw power and speed of the era’s race cars. Departing from the pictorial styles of earlier posters, its minimalist design features a bold, bullet-like form, reminiscent of the Maserati 4CL, set against a stark backdrop to emphasize motion and aggression. The race, held on October 5, 1947, on Lausanne’s temporary urban circuit, saw Luigi Villoresi claim victory in a Maserati 4CL, followed by Jean-Pierre Wimille in a Simca Gordini Type 15 and Emmanuel de Graffenried, also in a Maserati. This visually arresting poster perfectly encapsulates the intensity of the 90-lap competition that cemented Lausanne’s place in motorsport history.
