A strikingly unconventional racing poster captures a driver, goggles on, his expression frozen in astonishment as the track vanishes beneath him. Beneath the playful artwork, however, lies a tragic chapter in motorsport history. This race witnessed the first fatal accident in Grand Prix competition when Henri Cissac’s car suffered a catastrophic tire failure, overturning and killing both him and his mechanic. Victory ultimately belonged to German driver Christian Lautenschlager, who piloted his Mercedes to the finish nearly nine minutes ahead of France’s Victor Hemery in a Benz.
