Geo Ham’s first Monaco Grand Prix poster is a quintessential Art Deco masterpiece, capturing Achille Varzi’s Bugatti Type 51 surging from the tunnel, just behind a red Alfa Romeo, in a thrilling road-level perspective. The 1933 race marked a turning point in Grand Prix history, introducing starting positions based on practice times and witnessing Enzo Ferrari’s legendary Alfa Romeo team rise to dominance. While Varzi claimed victory in his Bugatti, Alfa Romeos filled the next four spots. This iconic design set the tone for Ham’s celebrated Monaco posters, which he continued creating through 1937 and again in 1948.
